What happens to what you send.

What gets collected

When you send a message through the form: your name, your email address and what you wrote. Sent automatically with it, to help stop abuse of the form: your IP address and your browser's user agent string, which are never shown to me.

The site also counts, without knowing who you are, that a page was viewed, that the contact section was seen, and that the form or the email address was used. No cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device; a daily count of visitors is made from a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you. There are no advertising pixels and no other analytics.

Why, and where it goes

To reply to you. That is the only use; nothing is sold, added to a list, or passed to anyone for their own purposes. The form is run by a small form-handling service that stores each message, emails it to me and gives me an inbox to reply from. It keeps everything in the United Kingdom, on Amazon Web Services in London, encrypted in transit and at rest, and processes your details on my behalf and for nothing else. The visit counts go to the same service, which keeps each page view as a line for two weeks, with the time, the page and the town it appeared to come from, and nothing that identifies me to you or you to me. I see the totals, and those lines.

How long

Two years from the day you sent it, then deleted automatically. A message that turns into work is kept for as long as my records of that work need to be. Spam is deleted after thirty days.

Your rights, and cookies

You can ask to see what I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used: email me and I will sort it out. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. This site sets no cookies and uses no trackers.
